You think its ok that I do this move back home?

I packed up and drove across country a little over a yr ago to have a fresh statr in life,I enjoyed every minute i spent out here,but i recently went back to my hometown for a weeks visit and kinda fell for a guy i went to college with,he is finishing up med school and wanted to do his residency here in my new city but things are not matching up and it wont be until another 1 1/2 till he does residency,anyways we spent the week together when i was in town and he didnt want me to leave,but i came back and now im ready to pack up and drive back to my hometown,I sorta feel the pull to do so from him.Is this a normal action, do you think things will be cool between him and I if i come back home? any advice would be great!
