Becoming a Trauma Surgeon?

I live in the UK but wish to become a trauma surgeon. I understand that there isn't quite something like that in the UK, but there is in the USA. What processes are involved in becoming a doctor in the USA? I was thinking that i go to med school in the UK, graduate and then apply for an internship/residency in the USA. But what exams do i need to take to have a license in the USA? and what are my chances of succeeding?
