Best visa for emigrating to australia?

I am planning on moving to australia from UK in about 12-18 months. I currently work as a health care assistant and want to continue this in australia. Is there a working visa I can get that will allow me to work as a health care assistant in australia for longer than 12 months (i.e not working holiday visa) and then eventually apply for residency. any help on how to apply for the visa would be greatly appreciated!
